Zane A. Gulick

February 28, 1937 — August 10, 2016

Zane Alden Gulick was born to Fred and Goldie “Fletcher” Gulick on February 28, 1937 in Sloan, Iowa. He passed away on August 10th, 2016 at his home.

He attended school in Sloan through the eighth grade then worked various jobs until he joined the Army in 1956. While on furlough after basic training, he married Ginger Adams on April 6th, 1956. After serving six months in the Army, he received an honorable medical discharge and returned to Sloan. He then began working in construction, plumbing and electrical and later developed his own successful contracting business. He and Ginger had three children: Julie, Jeanie and Ty.

Zane enjoyed camping with his family and friends, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and watching Nascar. He loved a good laugh. He lived most of his life in Iowa, but spent one year in Minnesota and lived in Garland, Texas from 1984 thru1989 then returned to Iowa following a divorce and lived there until 2006 when his health declined. After a six month stay with his daughter Julie’s family in Texas, he moved to Bruno, Nebraska and has resided on an acreage with his daughter Jeanie’s family for the past 9 years.

He is survived by his three children: daughters: Julie (Marty) Meylor of Scurry, Texas and Jeanie (Bruce) Bartunek of Bruno, Nebraska; son: Ty (Karen) Gulick of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren: Alex, Demi, Jessica, Sam, Jacob, Zachary and Carrie Beth; two great-grandchildren: Amaure’ and Maddox; one sister Phania “Patty” DeJong; ex-wife: Ginger Gulick; her mother: Elizabeth “Toots” Adams and her brothers: Kyle “Pat’ (Nikki) Adams and Monte (Rosaline) Adams; her sister: Judi Irish; and sister-in-law: Ila Gulick; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was proceeded death by his parents; his brothers: Bud, Freddie and David; sisters: Tootsie and Olive; father-in-law Kyle Adams.

Private funeral services will be on Sunday, August 14, 2016.
