Wilma Frances Kalisek passed away on October 27, 2023, at the Parkview Nursing Home in Dodge, Nebraska. She was 98 years old.
Family suggests memorials to the Howells Community Catholic Schools, Howells Community Fund, or per donor’s request.
Mass of Christian Burial; 10:30 am Friday, November 3, 2023, at the St. John’s Nepomucene Catholic Church in Howells. Visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the St. John’s Church with a Rosary to follow. Burial at the St. John’s Cemetery after Church Services. A luncheon to follow at the Howells Catholic Social Hall. Svoboda Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Wilma was born on October 18, 1925, to William E. and Frances (Pinker) Holoubek in Leigh, NE. She was a member of St. John’s Nepomucene Catholic Church in Howells, NE. She graduated from Howells Public High School in 1942. After graduation, she attended college during the summer months and began teaching at a country grade school that fall. On November 16, 1950, she was united in marriage to Rynold J. Kalisek. They had celebrated 62 years of marriage together, until his passing in 2012.
Wilma was a very loving, kind hearted, and caring person. A compassionate Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother. She was delightful and pleasant to be around and to everyone she met. A very devoted Catholic, family woman, member of the St. John’s Women’s Altar Society and Church Choir. She loved and treasured her four boys deeply and taught them outstanding values of life. Wilma enjoyed working in her garden and helping out on the family farm, operating the tractor, walking beans, along with being a home-maker. In later years she worked as a dental assistant in the Howells area.
Wilma is survived by her sons: Bruce (Joyce) Kalisek, Mike Kalisek, and Ken Kalisek; brother William Holoubek, seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Rynold, son Rod, and brother Richard Holoubek.
