Rita (Kozisek) Sorensen

Rita (Kozisek) Sorensen passed away on April 8, 2026 at St. Joseph's Villa in David City. 

Rita was born on September 17, 1960 to Art and Christine(Peters) Kozisek in David City. She attended David City Public Schools and graduated from Villa Marie School in Waverly. After graduation she moved to Lexington, NE where she worked in housekeeping at the Lexington Hospital. In December of 1944 she was united in marriage to Kevin Sorensen. 

Rita was a proud mom to Tracy(McLain) Thies, and was proud to share her love and enjoyment for raising Duchsounds's with her daughter. 

She is survived by her husband: Kevin Sorensen of Columbus, daughter: Tracy(McLain) Thies of David City, 2 sisters: Bea Wilson of Seward, Jill Aerts of Columbus; 5 brothers: Chuck(Heather) Kozisek of Gretna, Leo Kozisek, Steve Kozisek of David City, John Kozisek of Mesquite, NV and Tim(Diane) Kozisek of David City; step-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. 

Rita is preceded in death by her parents: Art and Christine Kozisek; step-daughter: Krystle Sorensen, many family and friends. 

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to St. Joseph's Villa. 

The family is hosting a celebration of life on Friday, April 17 at St. Mary's Church. A rosary service will begin at 10:30am with the funeral mass starting at 11:00am.
