Myron Kilgore

Myron Kilgore, 93, of David City passed away on January 3, 2012 at St. Joseph's Villa in David City.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, David City with Pastor Mark Schutt officiating. Burial will be in the David City Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be Friday, from 4-6pm at Chermok Funeral Home, additional viewing will be Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30am at the church.

Myron Ray Kilgore was born on March 26, 1919 to Delmar and Rose(Spech)Kilgore at Rising City, Nebraska. He lived on a farm and grew up close to Rising City. He attended Rising City High School, graduating in 1937.
Myron played on the Rising City basketball team and that team was the only team to go to state. He lettered in all four years of school.
He married Clarabelle Raitt in 1940. They farmed near David City for 41 years until he retired and moved to David City in 1981. They did extensive traveling in their retirement.
Myron served on the board at Pleasant Hill rural school and he held several offices at St. Luke's United Methodist Church. He also served in the board of trustees and was head usher for many years.
He served on the David City Cemetery Board for over 65 yrs and was president most of those years. He was the caretaker of the cemetery grounds for 15 years.
In 1996, he was voted Man of the Year by the David City Chamber of Commerce.
Myron was an avid bow and rifle hunter , he also enjoyed fishing and took his grandsons every chance he had.
He was a long time Green Bay Packers fan and was proud to own a share of Packer stock.
Myron is survived by his wife of 72 years, Clarabelle, two children: Terry Ray(Beverley) of Green Bay, WI; Linda(Jack)Clark of Norco, CA; 5 Grandchildren, 12 Great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
