Mary Novotny

Funeral mass for 105 year old Mary Novotny, formerly of Schuyler, will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, April 7th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Visitation will be held at the Svoboda Funeral Home North Chapel on Sunday from 4 PM to 7 PM followed by a 7 PM parish rosary. Visitation on Monday will be held at the North Chapel from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM. Burial will be in the Schuyler Cemetery.

Mary was born January 26, 1909 south of Clarkson to Joseph and Anna (Castka) Lopour. She attended rural school in Colfax County. Mary and Frank A. Novotny were married on January 22, 1933 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Heun. They farmed south of Howells until 1980 when they moved to Schuyler. Mary enjoyed gardening, playing cards and visiting with family and friends. Mary died April 2, 2014 at Parkview Home in Dodge where she had been a resident since March of 2000.

Mary is survived by her son, Dennis (Virginia) Novotny of Fremont.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank (1/12/1994); two grandsons, Paul and Bob Novotny; four brothers, Joe, Ed, Frank and Jerry Lopour; four sisters, Libbie Jedlicka, Ida Vacha, Anna Zrust and Emma Horak.
