Margory L. Medinger

Rising City

Margory L. Medinger, 100 of Rising City, passed away July 10, 2025 at the Columbus Hospital. 

Visitation will be Monday, July 14th from 5-7pm at Moravec Johnson Mortuary in David City.  The Funeral Service will be at 11am at Highland Park Church in Columbus, NE.  The Burial will take place at 2pm at St. Mary's Cemetery in David City.  

Margory L. Medinger was born January 17, 1925 at Rising City, Nebraska to John Benjamin and Luzetta(McKnight) Snyder, the youngest of four living children.  She attended and graduated from Rising City High School.  After graduation, Margory worked at the Lincoln Telephone Office in David City.  While working in David City she met Bernard Nelson.  They were married on August 17, 1945 in Rising City.  After their marriage they soon moved to California where Bernard's parents were located.  While there, son Allan was born in March of 1950.  They lived in Chula Vista, California until Bernard's death in 1961.  After Bernard's death Margory and Allan returned to Rising City in 1962 to be near family and friends. 

On July 16, 1966 Margory married Ed Medinger.  Ed passed away in April of 1993.  Ed and Margory enjoyed farm life and in later years winters in Arizona.  These Arizona winters even continued for a few years after Ed's passing.  Margory was active with her friends in the retirement activities of the Rising City over 60s and Keen-ager groups for many years.  Also, for many years she knitted over 60 child size sweaters for needy children supported by the World Vision organization.  Margory was a long-standing television fan of baseball and volleyball, especially the UNL Volleyball program.  She continued to live in Rising City until moving to Meridian Gardens in Columbus in 2019 where she enjoyed her life with new friends.  a 100th birthday celebration and a card shower were organized by the staff at Meridian Gardens which Margory appreciated and enjoyed very much.  Active membership in the Columbus congregation of Highland Park Evangelical Church was an important part of Margory's life. 

Margory was preceded in death by her parents, husbands: Bernard and Ed, Siblings: Maurice, James Boyd, and Max, and sister-in-laws: Eileen and Shirley. 

Margory is survived by her son: Allan of Rising City, and a niece and two nephews.
