Lumir L Ratkovec

Lumir L. Ratkovec, 86, of O'Neill, formerly of the Brainard area, died Sunday, April 16, 2017.
Lumir was born August 28, 1930 to Thomas and Mary(Pelan) Ratkovec in Brainard, Nebraska. He attended Distrist 48 Country School through the 8th grade. Lumir was a life long farmer, who did custom farming in the area and raised cattle. He owned and operated Lumir's Bar in North Bend from early 1961 until he sold it in 1977.
Lumir was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church in Loma, then was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in O'Neill. He battled with health issues for several years until his death.
He is survived by his children: Sandra S. Bartels, Gary Ratkovec, Brenda(Jon) Brakhage, Monica(Dan) Eaton; daughter-in-law: Beverly Ratkovec; sister: Vivian Kadavy; brother: Gordon Ratkovec; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Lumir is preceded in death by his parents; brother: Arthur; and son: Alan Ratkovec.
