Johnna Marie Coufal, 47, of North Bend, Nebraska, passed away on March 5, 2026.
Johnna was born in West Point, Nebraska on April 29, 1978, to Alice and Charles Gaster. She grew up on the family farm outside West Point, where she attended West Point Public Schools and built many lifelong friendships.
Johnna dedicated much of her career to the healthcare field, where she found fulfillment in caring for others. Her compassion and gentle nature were appreciated by both her colleagues and those she served. Most recently, she worked for Promedcare caring for people in their homes.
On September 27, 2025, Johnna married the love of her life, Roger. Together they built a life centered around family, laughter, and shared moments. They made their home on his family farm just outside of North Bend, where life was full of the simple joys of country living—guineas, chickens, cows, a dog, and a faithful mix of cats always nearby. She was a devoted mother to her children, Matthew and Cato Behrens, who were the center of her world.
Johnna had a deep love for animals and found joy in caring for them. She also enjoyed cooking for family and friends, playing board games and cards, and spending time with those she loved. She also enjoyed nature, the beach, sunshine, and the ocean. Johnna will be remembered for her kind heart, caring spirit, and curious nature that drew people toward her.
She is survived by her husband, Roger; her children, Matthew and Cato; her grandmother, Lorraine Burgess; her parents, Alice and Charles Gaster; and her siblings, Michelle Munderloh, Sharon Gaster, Nathan Gaster, and Benjamin Gaster.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Mildred Eigenman; her grandmother, Beatrice Gaster; and her grandfathers, Lester Gaster and Raymond Burgess.
