John J. Hader, lifelong resident and farmer north of Howells, Nebraska, passed away on October 6, 2025, at the age of 86.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 13, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Howells, with Fr. Walter Jong-A-Kiem officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 9:30 until 10:30 at the church. Burial will take place in St. Henry’s Cemetery.
John was born on December 13, 1938, to John and Mina Hader. He attended Howells High School and, in 1957, entered the United States Army, proudly serving his country. Following his service, John returned home to the land he loved and farmed there throughout his life. John was a member of the Knights of Columbus and an integral member of celebrating St. Henry’s rural cemetery.
John enjoyed the simple pleasures that came with rural living. He could often be found fishing, playing cards with friends, talking with friends and neighbors, or hunting for treasures at farm sales. His warm laugh and easygoing spirit were well known among his family and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mina Hader, and his sister, Margaret Renner. John is survived by his sister Barbara Hader, brother Robert Hader (Janice), and nieces and nephews.
