John was born on November 16, 1956, in Schuyler, NE to Emil J and Dolores (Woerth) Faltys. John grew up in the Heun Community. He graduated from Schuyler Central High School in 1975 and continued his education at Southeast Community College in Milford, earning a diploma in Construction Electrician Technology. He continued to advance his skills, becoming a Journeyman Electrician, Master Electrician, and an Electrical Contractor before opening his own business, Faltys Electric. At the time of death, John was working for the State of Nebraska as a State Electrical Inspector.

John had a big heart and was always willing to lend a hand. Those who knew him could count on an honest opinion and a good story. Creative and resourceful, he had recently found a passion for making junkyard art and crafting homemade ice fishing poles from diamond willow branches.

An avid hunter and fisherman, John especially enjoyed introducing young people to the outdoors and sharing what he knew. Over the years, he had several beloved Brittany spaniels who were his hunting companions.

John took pride in the home he built and the garden and orchard he tended. For him, the most rewarding part of gardening was sharing his bounty with others. Although he grew a little tired of all the mowing, he kept at it—after all, he needed the grass clippings for the garden.

Whether he was sharing a story, helping someone with a project, or passing along a skill, John found ways to give his time and talents to others. John loved his children and grandchildren; he treasured time spent with family.

John is survived by his four daughters: Nicole (Ricky) Wright of Hobbs, New Mexico; Brandy (Dan) Ellsworth of Columbus; Amber (Brandon) Seeman of Omaha; and Charlene Green of Lincoln; and his 12 grandchildren: Mercadeze, Brayton, Cody, Abby, Aidan, Aubree, Leah, Colin, Isabella, Makenzie, Liam, Harrison. He is also survived by his siblings: Jeanne (Fred) Striefler of West Simsbury, Connecticut; David (Debbie) Faltys of Kearney, Missouri; Carol (Richard) Wolta of Schuyler; Lorene (Skip) Oehlrich of Richland; and Rita (Ronnie) Mundil of Schuyler and special friend Tammy Muschick and her grandson Jaxson Kane of Clemons, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Ron Faltys.

He will be remembered for his generous heart, straightforward nature, creativity, story after story, and love for his family and the outdoors.
