Helen was born on September 23, 1938 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Helen didn’t have the most glamorous of childhoods, she and her siblings were raised in an orphanage in Lincoln. Helen worked odd jobs growing up around Lincoln until she met John Jindra. The couple married on April 2, 1966 in Lincoln, she then moved to Schuyler to make a home with John.
To most of the world, Helen kept a barrier that kept many from getting to know her, as a result of her childhood. Once you got to know Helen you would find out that she was a wonderful human being who loved animals, listening to music, watching westerns on TV, and going on picnics. She cleaned at Tiny’s bar for many years and cleaned at the Schuyler Vet Clinic. Helen was always helping animals whether helping them with medical needs or getting them fixed. She could often be found cooking up cheap cuts of chicken to feed to her pet cats and dogs or the cats that seemed to always be around her house.
Helen is survived by a brother-in-law Anton Jindra, sisters-in-law Ann Schmid, Rose (Ralph) Chloupek, and Mary Jane Jindra as well as several friends and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband John in 1972, sister Tillie, a brother, and four brothers-in-law Leonard, Stephen, Joseph, and Jerry.
