Funeral mass for Helen Brichacek, age 95 of Schuyler, will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, March 4th at Holy Trinity Catholic Church Heun. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the Svoboda Funeral Home North Chapel. Rosary will be recited on Tuesday at 4 P.M. and a combined Parish and Knights of Columbus rosary will be recited at 7 P.M. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Helen was born June 1, 1919 in Stanton County to Frank H. and Marie “Mary” Kuzel Vrbicky. She received her education from a Stanton County rural school. Helen and Stanley A. Brichacek were married August 21, 1946 at SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Clarkson and they farmed in the Heun area until 1981 when they moved to Schuyler. Helen is a member of Holy Trinity Altar Society and Guild, having served as an officer in both organizations, and she is also a member of the Catholic Workmen. Helen was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed following the lives of her children and grandchildren living out her “family first” belief. She loved to sew, embroider, cook, bake, garden – both vegetable and flower – and travel. She had a wry smile to go with her wonderful sense of humor. Helen died March 1, 2015 at Golden Living Center in Schuyler where she had been a resident since September of 211.
Helen is survived by her son, Stan ( Sandy) Brichacek of Clarkson; three daughters, Doris (Don) Klitz of Omaha, Janet of Las Vegas and Donette (Jim) Prokopec of Norfolk; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Stanley (11/5/2006); twin great grandsons; brother, Frank J. Vrbicky.
Family suggests memorials to Heun Cemetery Fund or Heun Improvement Fund.
