Emil Milo Roubal was born on November 14, 1941 on the family farm outside of Howells to Emil E. and Helen (Dostal) Roubal. He graduated from Howells High School with the class of 1960. In 1961 Emil married his high school sweetheart, Elaine Jindra, on February 8. The couple lived north of Howells where they worked on the family farm.
In 1973, Emil and Elaine purchased what would someday be known as their legacy, The Double ‘E’ Bar. For 35 years Emil spent endless hours serving some of the coldest beers and friendliest conversation. After Emil and Elaine celebrated their “Last Bash” in 2007, they retired and spent their days attending their grandchildren’s activities, and helping out anywhere their family, friends, and community needed.
In 2016, Emil suffered a stroke, it slowed him down physically, but didn’t damper his spirits. Emil loved to sit on the porch and wave at everyone passing-by and was known to offer a cold drink to anybody that stopped by. He will always be remembered by his great-grandkids for having a popsicle and cookie ready for them whenever they visited.
Emil is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elaine; 3 daughters: Regina (Rod) Dirkschneider, Sharleen (Leonard) Bayer, and Chris (Kevin) Brester; grandchildren: Brad (Julie) Dirkschneider, Brenda (Brian) Jones, Ryan (Amie) Dirkschneider, Michael (Melissa) Bayer, Scott (Samantha) Bayer, Brian (Olivia) Bayer, Tiffany (Eric) Brabec, Tyler (Jordan) Brester, Tessa (Greg) Wegner, and Tonya (Kade) Hegemann; 25 great-grandchildren; and sister Mary Ann Belina.
He is preceded in death by his parents Emil E. and Helen Roubal, parents-in-law Edward and Marcella Jindra, grandson Jeffrey Bayer, and brother-in-law Marvin Belina.
