He married H. Nadine Cerny on May 19, 1953 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Schuyler, NE. Emil enjoyed working the farm and raising livestock. He also enjoyed woodworking, rock hounding and family fireworks.

In addition to caring for the farm, Emil was also employed by Husker Co-op in Schuyler, a member of the Farmers Union; and sat on the boards of District 11 Rural School and the Midland Bohemian Slavonic Cemetery (Sousek Cemetery). He managed a rural route for delivery of the Sunday Omaha World Herald for 10 years. In the ‘50s, he helped complete delivery of telephone communications to his neighborhood.

Emil and Nadine loved fishing together. Many trips to Minnesota lakes were enjoyed in their nearly 62 years together. Their love of fishing spawned many fish fries with friends and family.
