Elsie G. was born on June 15, 1929 in rural Dodge to Alois and Bessie (Havelka) Studnicka. Elsie attended country school until the 8th grade and then was needed to help on the family farm. On September 1, 1948 she married Vernon Konsel at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge. The couple farmed outside of Howells together for many years until they retired to town in the late 1970’s.
Although helping Vernon on the farm and raising their son was a top priority in her life, her devotion to the church was a close second. She spent many years volunteering around St. John’s with the altar society- helping with funeral lunches, chairing the dinner committee for weddings, as well as whatever capacity she was needed. She loved her grandson Anthony and was always more than happy to babysit when needed or attend his events as he got older. Many would describe Elsie as a hard worker, even after retirement she would regularly find herself out at the farm to help with projects when needed. She could regularly be found in the kitchen baking kolaches, volunteering with the Red Cross, or praying the rosary.
Elsie is survived by her son Randolph (Carol) Konsel of Howells, grandson Anthony Konsel of Omaha and his children Alexa and Gavin; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Vernon in 2004, and 12 brothers and sisters.
