Duane E. Sutton, 79, of David City died Friday, September 16, 2016 at the Butler County Health Care Center in David City.

Duane E. Sutton was born on February 13, 1937 at Omaha, Nebraska to Wendell and Iola (Williams) Sutton. In the early 1950's, the family moved to California where Duane graduated from Van Nuys High School. He entered the US Army in 1955, serving his country until his discharge in 1958.
On July 18, 1959, Duane married Peggy Glenn in California and three children were born to this union.
Duane worked in construction for most of his life, working for various employers until becoming self-employed. He moved back to Nebraska in the early 1990's, where he remained until his death. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Knights of Columbus, Shelby Council.
His hobbies included building furniture, fishing, attending racing events and an occasional casino trip. He liked to play cards, travel and grow flowers around his deck and watch the birds that would come and feed from his bird feeders.
Duane is survived by his sons: Mark (Lori) and Ed (Lettie) both of California; one brother: Alan Sutton of Wahoo; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter: Dawn; one granddaughter; and a sister: Shirley Kuklish.
Lunch will be served immediately following the funeral mass, at the Parish Hall.
Burial will be at Circle Mound Cemetery, in Rising City at 12:30pm.
