Dorothy Ann Spale was born on August 5, 1935 in Garland, Nebraska to Edward and Emma (Nemec) Buresh, one of five children. Dorothy and Richard met at a dance and married on May 26, 1955. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in 2018.

Mom deeply loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, cherishing family gatherings above all else. The loss of her children, Jim and Denise, brought profound sorrow for her, but she channeled that love into the rest of the family. She enjoyed traveling, reading, playing bingo, dancing, and watching Lawrence Welk.

Mom was selfless, always prioritizing her family's needs above her own. She attended all her children's sporting and school events, and as many of her grandchildren's activities as possible. Her grandchildren recall Grandma reading to them and telling the best stories, having tea parties, and sleepovers watching Disney movies. On family trips to Worlds of Fun, she would patiently wait for hours to ride the carousel with her loved ones.

No matter how much time we had with Mom, it was never going to be enough.

She is survived by her son Randal (Martha) Spale of Shawnee, KS; three daughters: Janine (Guy) Pelsor of Lincoln, Valerie Spale of Lincoln, and Michele (Steve) Buroker of Bennington; 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandsons and brother Jerry (Kathy) Buresh as well as several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard in 2018, son James Spale in 2011, daughter Denise Szatko in 2023 and two sisters and one brother.
