Doris Mae Haase was born on June 8, 1942 on the family farm in Antelope County to Albert and Lora (Kennedy) Peters. She attended school through the 8th grade until she was needed at home to help on the farm. While working as a waitress at the Gem Café in Wisner she would come to meet the love of her life, Mervin Haase, the couple was married in West Point on December 20, 1961.
Family was the light of Doris’s life, after she and Mervin started their family Doris was able to stay home and be a stay-at-home mom for their children. Once their kids were grown and in school, she began working at Parkview Home in Dodge in the housekeeping department where she worked for over 40 years. Doris was very proud of the fact that after raising her children and making a home, she was able to obtain her driver’s license, that way she was able to continue working in Dodge without depending on rides and to go where she pleased!
Doris looked forward to her regular camping adventures throughout the year with Mervin and having their family join them. Her entire family would agree that you very seldom left grandma Doris’s house without a plate of her amazing cookies or at least some Rice Krispy bars for the ride home or just because. Doris loved her family and was always eager to welcome in their newest family members, whether by marriage, birth, or as a furry 4 legged friends.
She is survived by her children: Jerry Haase of Pender, Judy (Kevin) Jones of Ralston, Ne, Teresa Jenkins of Ceresco, Ne, Timmy Haase and Danny Haase both of Howells; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; brothers Bob (Norma) Peters, and Richard Peters, sister Shirley Brandt-Swann and many nieces and nephews.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents, husband Mervin in 2019, brothers: Larry, Stanley, Gene, and Clarence Peters, and sisters: Joanne Kling, Marilyn Peters, Deloris Evaretts, and Lois Milliken.
