Donald L. Gunderson

Donald L. Gunderson,73, of David City passed away May 18, 2026 at the Columbus Community Hospital. 

Graveside services will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at Bellwood Cemetery.  A lunch will be held after the burial at the Bellwood Auditorium, 710 Esplanade St., Bellwood, NE 68624.

Donald was born December 27, 1952 to Wilton and Verla(Crouse) Gunderson in Columbus, Nebraska.  He went to Bellwood Elementary then onto David City High School. Donald was united in marriage to Barbara Wachal on July 5, 1974 and 2 children: Natasha and Jesse were born to this union. Throughout his life, he enjoyed stock car racing and riding his Harley. 

He is survived by his daughter: Natasha (Brent) Van Diest of David City, son: Jesse Gunderson of Columbus; grandchildren: Emma, Khloe, Breyton, Owyn, Delylah and Charley; brother-in-law: Robert Wais; sisters-in-law: Kathy(Robert) Leimser, Pam Wachal and Dawn(Mike) Heese; and several cousins. 

Donald is preceded in death by his parents: Wilton and Verla Gunderson; wife: Barbara(Wachal) in 1995; parents-in-law: Elmer and Betty Wachal; sister: Carma Wais; nephew: Dennis Mitchell; and aunts and uncles.
