Carol L. Vrbka, 82, widow of Roland, of David City, formerly of Valparaiso, died Friday, June 23, 2023 at St. Joseph's Villa in David City.

Carol was born on March 23, 1941, on the farm near Dwight, Nebraska to John A. and Louise (Hoffbauer) Tesina. She attended and graduated from Dwight Assumption School in 1959. After high school, she went to work at the Nebraska Farmer Magazine as clerical staff. On October 15, 1966, she married Roland Vrbka at Assumption Catholic Church in Dwight. Two daughters were born to this union.
After her children were older, she went to work as a porter at St. Elizabeth's Hospital and later she worked in the dining room at Eastmont Towers in Lincoln. She also delivered Meals on Wheels and the Wahoo newspaper. She was a volunteer for many years at the Saunders County ARC. Carol was a member of Sts Mary and Joseph Church in Valparaiso as well as the PCCW and Catholic Daughters. She was also a member of the Valparaiso Women's Club for many years.
Carol is survived by her daughters, Mary Vrbka of Crete and Anne Vrbka of Valparaiso, one granddaughter, Anastasia Katherine Louise Cure. Brother-in-law: Ray (JoAnn) Vrbka of Firth and Sisters-in-law: Judy (Pat) Osmera of Ulysses, Sally Tesina of Dwight and Genevieve Tesina of Bee, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roland in 2017, infant brother, Jerome, and two brothers, John (Jack) and Dave Tesina.
