Bob Palik, 77, of David City passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025 at Tabitha Hospice House in Lincoln.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. A parish rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Thursday, at the church. Visitation will be on Wednesday, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Moravec Johnson Mortuary in David City. Visitation will resume on Thursday from 9:30 until 10:30 at the church. Burial with military honors will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery with lunch following at the David City Auditorium. Moravec Johnson Mortuary is handling arrangements for Bob’s family.
J. Robert Palik was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on April 22, 1948 and adopted by Cyril and Agnes (Kriz) Palik of David City. Bob always felt very blessed to have been adopted into a wonderful home with loving parents. He graduated from Aquinas High School in 1966. After high school he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. Bob worked at the Schuyler Pack for several years and then took a job working at the David City Power Plant as a plant operator until his retirement in 2012. On September 16, 1972, he married Janet Nordmeyer at Friedens United Church of Christ in Seward.
Bob was passionate about many things in his life, primarily his family, his country, and his faith. He loved playing tennis, belonging to local leagues, cheering on Nebraska Football, relaxing on a Sunday listening to Polka music, as well as working on word search puzzles. Bob belonged to the American Legion, VFW, served on the American Legion/VFW Funeral Honor Guard, the 40-8’ers, the Knights of Columbus, served on St. Mary’s Catholic Church Council, mentored at Aquinas Schools, volunteered at St. Joseph’s Court, and was on the committee for Perpetual Adoration Hours.
Recently, Bob was awarded the Quilt of Valor for his service in Vietnam, an honor he was truly proud of.
Bob is survived by his wife of 52 years Janet of David City, his children Kevin Palik of Omaha, Craig (Megan) Palik of Lincoln, and Shelley (Bob) Ilangikwa of Aurora, CO; six grandchildren: Colette and Ryan Palik, Liam and Oden Palik, Julia and Joel Ilangikwa,; brother John Palik; sisters-in-law: Joan Hladky, Diane Lovell, Anita Neville, Leona (Dan) Miller, Lola (Ralph) Young, Phyllis West, Linda West; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Cyril and Agnes Palik, parents-in-law Walter Nordmeyer, Larene Nordmeyer, and Delores Nordmeyer; his beloved dog Oscar, brothers-in-law Gene Hladky, Neil West, Lynn West, Frank Lovell, and Dennis Neville.
