Bessie Dirkschneider

Bessie Ann Dirkschneider was born June 26, 1911 in Howells to Joseph and Josephine (Necikle) Karel. She attended grade school in Howells. On April 6, 1932, Bessie married Edward Dirkschneider at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Howells. Bessie was a homemaker and a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, St. John’s Altar Society, and the American Legion Auxillary for over 50 years. She served for 10 years in 4H programs. She loved baking kolaches, gardening, fishing, dancing and going to the casino. Bessie is survived by a daughter, Mary Richards of Washington; grandchildren: Michelle, Donitta, Lisa and John; nieces and nephews and a special friend Robert Klintberg. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward, brothers Frank, John, Joe and Alois and sisters Mary and Stacie. Memorials are suggested to St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church or Howells Community Catholic School.
