Bernice was born January 7, 1917 at Creighton to Clark and Leila (Dubay) Kimble. She graduated from Creighton High School in 1934. She then attended Wayne State College and earned a Professional Life Certificate and taught nine years in rural schools in Knox and Wayne Counties. She later taught in Orchard, Bayard, West Point and Norfolk. Bernice also attended the University of Colorado at Boulder before changing professions and attending the University of Nebraska College of Pharmacy where she earned her diploma in 1947. She received her license to practice in February of 1948. She was employed at Gilmore Danielson Drug Company in Lincoln until her marriage to Joseph A. Lapacek on April 22, 1950 at the Methodist Church in Creighton. They lived their married life on the farm north of Schuyler where Joe was born. Bernice continued to work at area pharmacies and later was a employed by LaVern Bryan, Gene Cunningham and Bill Dubas. They moved to Schuyler in 2005 and Bernice retired from pharmacy in 2007. Bernice was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and held a lifetime membership in the Nebraska Pharmacy Association. She enjoyed music, gardening, reading, sewing and was active in her church. Bernice died December 4, 2012, at the age of 95, at Golden Living Center in Schuyler where she had been a resident since December of 2011. Bernice is survived by her brother, Neal Kimble of Brunswick, NE; nieces and nephews.
