Alice Catherine (Ternus) Imholte was born November 24, 1930 in Norfolk, NE to George and Ella (Widhalm) Ternus. She grew up on a farm outside of Humphrey, NE and graduated from St. Francis High School in 1948. Alice married Urban (Urbie) Imholte on August 22, 1950 at St. Francis Church in Humphrey. Following Urbie's time in the service during the Korean War, they farmed near Leigh, NE. They eventually became dairy farmers east of Leigh where they raised seven children. Alice helped with the milking, enjoyed gardening, baking, and sewing. She was a very competitive card player.
In 1987 they sold the dairy herd and retired from farming in 1992 when they moved to Schuyler, NE. In retirement, Alice began quilting. She became involved with sewing quilts for the church bazaar. Alice also sewed a quilt for each of her children and grandchildren. Urbie and Alice enjoyed travelling on many family and extended family vacations. Alice was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Leigh, YGIG (You Go, I Go) neighborhood women's club, and the women's groups of St. Mary's Church in Leigh and St. Mary's Church in Schuyler. She was involved in the Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th Degree activities with her husband. In 2016 Alice moved to assisted living in Columbus, NE.
