Alan L. Sucha was born on September 15, 1947, to Harold F. and LaVonne Sucha. He lived on a farm south of Dodge, NE, and later moved to a farm northwest of Schuyler, NE. He graduated from Schuyler Central High School in 1966 and was united in marriage to Linda Karel on August, 1, 1968, at S.S. Cyril Methodius Catholic Church in Clarkson, NE.

Alan started his career farming with his father and then spent the next 30 years as an over-the-road truck driver, hauling grain locally into his retirement. He enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing, keeping a well-manicured yard, and airboating on the Platte River for nearly 50 years. Alan loved to grill and entertain. Nothing made him happier than getting family and friends together whether it be at his house or river spot for some good laughs and storytelling. As his children would say, “Dad never met a stranger.” He gave selflessly of his time and had friends spanning across the generations. Family was everything to him and he’d go out of his way to keep you around just a little longer when home for a visit.

Alan was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, former President of the PLA-CO Pork Producers, District 1 Richland School Board, Airboaters Association, he served in the US Army Reserves from 1966-1972, and was a Fraternal Order of Eagles 3568 Officer, as well as a youth baseball coach.

Alan is survived by his sons, Alan Jay of Schuyler, Brian (Dawn) of Columbus, Chad (Irene) of Columbus, daughters Deanna (Barry) Herout of Omaha and Katrina (Chris) Reha of Pender, as well as 12 grandchildren.

He was proceeded in death by his wife, Linda, parents Harold F. and LaVonne Sucha, in-laws Jerry J. Karel Jr. and Wilma, son Scott Sucha, brother Dana Sucha, and sister-in-law Mary Horkey.
